Horizons Clinical Therapy

Fedra Tehrani,

Licensed Clinician

In my practice I have assisted a range of concerns, but I specialize in supporting adults with developing & rebuilding a healthier sense of self. This may consist of healing old wounds, improving relationships, building better coping mechanisms and ultimately maintaining a balanced lifestyle. My practice is also focused on helping my clients rebuild healthier relationships with loved ones by exploring self-doubt, learning effective communication skills and placing healthier boundaries. Past work experience with anxiety, depression, Autism, ADHD, life transitions, co-dependence as well as recovery from abuse and trauma.

I am very fortunate to have gained the experience working at various levels of care at the San Mateo County Mental Health programs as it has shaped my clinical expertise. I also had the opportunity to learn new treatment approaches working with individuals and families healing from different forms of abuse, neglect, trauma, domestic violence and generational trauma.

Overcoming Challenges and Building Healthy Coping Skills

I enjoy working with my clients explore challenges from different perspectives and develop a new sense of self and resilience.

I would like to determine where you are in your journey and either start from the beginning or build further on learned skills. I am invested to help you explore behavioral patterns and triggers. My hope is that within your therapeutic process you will regain confidence, overcome personal obstacles, and come to maintain your newly formed skills and identity.

I am also passionate about working with underprivileged communities with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. I enjoy helping clients learn to better advocate for themselves to obtain equal opportunities and meet their own needs. My practice includes the application of various evidence-based therapy approaches and skill-building techniques as shown below.

Although I am familiar with a variety of therapeutic approaches, I mostly work from a psychodynamic orientation and my focus is to help shed a light on possible troubling relational patterns and how they may be impacting your life.

I also work from a cognitive behavioral approach, where I guide you in evaluating and changing how your thoughts and feelings influence your actions. Still, depending on what you bring into therapy, I would like to tailor my work to support you addressing it. I have experience with young adults and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds using an integrative approach and perspective.

My work also emphasizes on the importance of relationships, family systems, and behavioral change. I am available for either short or long-term treatment methods and utilize evidence-based practices.
